Hello
everybody, this blog is about our experience and fun of our event LAN gaming at
our college fest AFOSEC @V R SIDDHARTHA. We “successfully” organized the games
NFS MOST WANTED and CALL OF DUTY:4 MODERN WARFARE 1.
Well,conducting
them wasn’t easy but with our i5 processor and hd graphics display adapters it
seemed possible at first. So we decided to organize them at a LAN level J. So it was on Monday 18th feb that we
installed NFSMW in our systems at our highly equipped lab. Well it was easy to
install cause there were less installation problems with it. A .dll file was
missing which we googled and downloaded from the first link. So NFS wasn’t that
difficult. But then came our problem with COD! Frankly I was zero with games.
But at last we hosted the event successfully. COD had many installation
problems linked with it. Initially, COD is a .7z file. So to run the
application we googled it for soo long but after 4 hours found one genuine link
and then installed it our systems. Then we tried to run the program, but again
it didn’t run! It said a .dll file was missing and we downloaded the file and
installed it. But even then it didn’t run. It said an iw3mp.exe error. We
didn’t knew what it was and then on googling we found something strange. It was
an error which say that you have to turn on your microphone to run the run the
game. To turn it on,
1.“go
to volume icon on the bottom right of your desktop and right click on it.
2.
Then see whether you have turned on your microphone. If you can’t find any then
right click on the white space in the deices list and click on “show disabled
devices”.
3.
Then turn on the microphone and then execute the game.
Then
it ran for an instance but when we tried to create a server it wouldn’t work.
Then again the googling started and after one 1 long hour we could find the
solution. Initially you must enable the console and for that you need to go
game options and set console to yes. Then come back and press the key left to 1
and above the tab button. Then it will show a command box area on the top of
the screen. The write “conn” in that box and set connectionattempts 10 and
press enter. Then give your server ip address. Then we started to play but then
it would run again saying enter your keycode. Then on finding the keycode
generator at read me folder in the game setup file we generated they key code
and entered it in the multiplayer options. And then finally “ ‘the’ COD” ran
successfully in lan. Then on we just created the server and other players
joined the server and we all had fun.
Many
enthusiasts participated in the events and single player CH.raviteja of our
college won in both the events.
Our
team comprising of jayanth bezawada, leela srinivas battu, rampati jagadeesh
and Srinivas yadlapati (without whom cod wouldn’t have run) have done great and
are the pillars of our event.
Probably
we were the only students in vijayawada
and may be even in the state to have CONDUCTED “CALL OF DUTY4 MODERN WARFARE 1”
at a lan level.
Thanks
to everybody who have encouraged us and discouraged us(cause we feel like
achievers now).
Special
thanks to our department faculty and lab technicians for supporting us.
